Gorgeous Same Sex Wedding at Herrington on the Bay

Laura and Beverly's wedding was one of the most beautiful same sex weddings we have ever photographed!  I have to admit I was a little nervous about shooting their wedding because the weather forecast was threatening rain.  My hope was please just let them get to have their ceremony outside.  Anytime a couple chooses Herrington on the Bay it is almost always because of the beautiful outdoor waterfront ceremony sites.  I was sure we could get some lovely indoor photos, but outside was definitely preferable.  As luck would have it, the rain held up and we were able to do both.  

These lovely ladies got ready at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Resort and had their wedding at Herrington on the Bay in North Beach, MD.  They didn't want to see each other first, but they share the same group of friends, so we snapped a few photos with the same friends in separate rooms prior to the ceremony.

Their ceremony was held in the Polynesian Lawn overlooking the water.  Laura's face when she saw Beverly walking down the aisle was priceless.   It was hard to hold back the tears as they exchanged vows.  There were funny moments too - like the sand ceremony - it looks easier than it is sometimes!  It was hard to get going at first, but once they got the hang of it - everything was just fine and still no rain!

After the ceremony we took family formals, wedding party photos and portraits of Laura and Beverly.  Just as we were finishing Laura and Beverly's portraits, a rainbow came out!  I couldn't believe it, I pulled out my camera to snap a quick photo, just so they will always remember that a rainbow came out for their wedding!

I can't say enough wonderful things about Laura and Beverly - I liked them the moment I met them - they were easy going and they hosted one heck of a reception!  The reception kicked off when they lit up the dance floor with a choreographed medley of songs for their first dance.  Their reception was high energy with lots of dancing, a fun Photo Booth and amazing toasts from friends and family.

 

 

We wish this lovely couple many years of happiness!
