Beyond the Headshot: Personal Branding Photos That Feel Like You

A great personal branding session should give you more than one good headshot.

It should give you photographs that show different sides of who you are and give you options for how you present yourself professionally.

For Ivy’s session, we created a mix of clean studio portraits and more relaxed lifestyle images. Ivy is a teacher and creative artist, so we wanted her photographs to feel professional without becoming overly corporate.

We began with a simple blue backdrop and a white blazer, creating polished portraits that could easily work for a professional profile, website bio or speaker introduction.

From there, we moved into a more natural environment. Seated portraits created a softer, more approachable feeling, while standing photographs gave us another opportunity to bring in personality through wardrobe and color.

That variety is one of the biggest advantages of a personal branding session.

Your Brand Needs More Than One Photograph

Think about all the places you may need photographs throughout the year: your website, LinkedIn, social media, marketing materials, speaking engagements, press features or an upcoming launch.

Using the same headshot everywhere can become limiting very quickly.

A branding session allows us to intentionally create a collection of images with different crops, expressions, backgrounds and levels of formality while still keeping everything visually consistent.

The goal is to create photographs that look professional but still feel like you.

Whether you are an entrepreneur, educator, consultant, artist or creative professional, your branding photographs should help people connect with the person behind the work.
