The second chapter in our “70s-Inspired Photowalk in Downtown Baltimore” series celebrates the effortlessly magnetic Alexis — a model, creative director, and makeup artist whose talent and eye for detail elevated every frame.
Collaborating once again with the Peculiar Collective, this session explored what happens when retro meets modern artistry: the iconic textures, fearless poses, and soulful energy that defined the 1970s, interpreted through today’s creative lens.
Alexis brought that signature modern-meets-classic energy. From her voluminous natural curls to the bold red-and-cream patterned top, her look was pure nostalgia with a confident edge.
She embodied both elegance and strength — the kind of timeless beauty that radiates from within.
Between the black-and-white moments that feel pulled from a 1974 fashion spread and the color portraits that pop with cinematic warmth, each image tells a story of grace, individuality, and creative freedom.
This shoot was a creative playground for light. Using a mix of natural sunlight and strobe allowed me to build depth and texture across the frame. The Canon R5 paired with a 24–105mm f/2.8 (sometimes stopped down to f/5.6) offered flexibility and crisp detail, while the Profoto B10, used both bare bulb and with a softbox, gave me that painterly, soft-yet-defined finish.
The interplay between ambient shadow and flash punch recreated the visual rhythm of 70s street photography — organic, bold, and alive with light.
Shot beside a metallic bronze Cadillac, Alexis exuded power and poise — perfectly in tune with the textures of chrome, leather, and sunlit reflections. The setting felt like a living movie scene, blending modern storytelling with retro attitude.
Whether touching up lipstick in the driver’s seat or leaning casually against the car with that unmistakable stare, Alexis turned every moment into a statement of modern womanhood rooted in classic soul.
This project continues to be a true collaboration of vision and artistry with Peculiar Collective. Their commitment to community and cultural storytelling resonates deeply — reminding us that every creative space we share can become a reflection of history, style, and self-expression.

This feature — Part 2 of our 70s-inspired series — is a celebration of Modern Classic Beauty through the eyes of Alexis, whose creative voice, makeup artistry, and natural elegance perfectly embody the spirit of this project.
Stay tuned for Part 3, where another incredible model brings their own interpretation of the decade’s timeless soul, all captured under Baltimore’s golden light.
